The Ross Taylor Surf Contest has become a favourite fixture on the surf calendar, and sees contests from across the country converging on Buffel’s Bay (Buffalo Bay) in Knysna for a fine display of surf action.
Organisers are thrilled to be welcoming back all of their loyal supporters, some of them to surf for the sixth year running. The event takes place from Friday, August 8, to Sunday, August 10.
“It’s truly wonderful to see so many families taking part in the event,, with mom dad and kids all taking to the water in different divisions and surfing for a good cause.” The annual surf contest has raised just under half a million Rand for Hospice in the past five years, an astounding achievement made possible thanks to loyal support from the local community and business sector alike.
For those who wish to stay out of the water, there will be fun beach activities for the young ones, as well a a big beach walk. The now famous “happy pancake-making team”, will all be back.
A new fixture is the open air movie night for the whole family to enjoy on Friday.
The Saturday benefit evening will include fantastic auction items, dinner, live music and dance. Tickets are limited, so book early.
With all this on the cards and 3 days of top notch surf action to watch, the Ross Taylor Surf Contest 2014 is set to be another memorable one for contestants and spectators alike.
Once again, the organisers would like to thank all their sponsors and supporters. “It is without doubt the local support received every year which makes this a truly fantastic event of caring, sharing, giving and surfing.”
