Oyster Festival 2012 – Bookings Open

The countdown to South Africa’s premier winter family holiday destination, the 29th Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, has begun, with entries for the top sporting events opening on March 1.

This year the festival takes place from July 6-15 and has events to tantalise all tastes, with over 100 lifestyle and sporting events for young and old, for the fit and the not-so-fit!

No matter what your ideal holiday consists of, the festival has something for everyone, from running, cycling and adventure racing to wine and whiskey tastings, cooking competitions, food and wine pairings, gala evenings, live music, a specialised children’s programme and of course – oysters!

Entries for the Big 5 Challenge, the Pick n Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna MTB and Road races and the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon and Half Marathon open on March 1, with organisers anticipating entries selling out fast. The sporting events at the festival have become synonymous with athletes testing their abilities, skills and endurance in some of the most anticipated and varied extreme events on the Western Cape sporting calendar.

“Pick n Pay is once again thrilled to be part of this vibrant festival, which brings people from all over the country together to celebrate some of South Africa’s finest attributes – the beauty of our natural landscape, our talented athletes, and fine food and wine,” says Bronwen Rohland, Pick n Pay’s Director of Marketing and Sustainability.

This year the festival hub will be back in the centre of the town at the Knysna High School sports grounds on Waterfront Drive. To make sure you don’t miss out book your accommodation now to be part of SA’s winter holiday destination of choice.
