Mo’s on Rex is an undeniably beautiful setting for a restaurant and bar. They just gained extra ambiance and class with Scottish Master Smoker and television chef, Simon Macdonald, setting up the Old Cape Smokehouse. His successful career and passion has included him providing his treats to 5 royal households as well as 3 US presidents.

His numerous awards include:

  • Three times World Salmon Smoking Champion (2010-2011-2012)
  • Winner of Best Smoked Food in Great Britain (1989-1991-2001)
  • Gold Award for Best International Cheese in France 1996
  • Winner of Best Craft Produced Cheese in Europe 1997
  • Gold Award for Best Smoked Salmon in Germany 2011
  • Winner of Scottish Food Awards (every year from 1997 to 2012)

Smoked Crocodile Tail is the newest delicacy presented by Simon. He says that, “Some may regard it as a bit of a novelty but in Scotland I smoked about 7 and a half tons of alligator meat last year, so there is definitely a market for this kind of product. It makes the ideal present for the person who thought they had everything!”
