Knysna Woodworker’s Festival 2012

wooden gatePress Release:

Knysnawoodworkers.co.za is proud to be hosting the Knysna Woodworkers Festival to be held in Knysna from 29 September – 6 October 2012 at Timber Village in Welbedacht Lane.

The Knysna Woodworkers Festival will be officially launched at the Knysna Yacht Club on 29/30 September with a Celebration of Wooden Boats – and then from 1 – 6 October, to showcase the world of wood, the Festival will continue in the beautiful grounds of Timber Village, Welbedacht Lane, Knysna, situated in the heart of the Garden Route.

We echo the words of Mr Shaun van Eck, CEO Knysna Tourism: “The purpose is to reignite the early pioneering spirit and the love for timber. Aside from the estuary, it is our forests that make Knysna the special place it is.

Our timber and furniture has long been a primary source of income, industry and life for much of Knysna. The Knysna Woodworkers Festival celebrates the woodworking industry both past and present, which has had such a distinct impact on the area and in making it what it is today. It is time that we recreate the identity of a sustainable, productive and successful timber town.

Creating more awareness of Knysna’s timber industry is sure to attract a host of new visitors to our beautiful town, giving them an insight into the wealth and beauty of this previous raw material. Visitors would also like to feel that they had an interesting and unique experience.

The Knysna Woodworkers Festival will give them that experience and expose our local suppliers, producers, manufacturers and crafters within the timber industry to a whole new client base. Not only will our local economy be boosted by the extra visitors the Festival is bound to attract, but it will also benefit from the commercial trade which will be generated within the timber industry.”

A FESTIVAL NOT TO BE MISSED!

We are calling all interested wood workers, woodworking clubs or any affiliated industry to exhibit in this special event.

The only criterion for participation in the festival: all things related to wood and affiliated industries.

There has been overwhelming interest in this Festival and huge crowds are anticipated, so early registration is essential. So to book your stall/demonstration/course or just for general information, please contact us with your details and we will get back to you.
