Knysna Electronics is involved in a project with ESKOM and ELLIES in terms of which certain of the globes in your house can be exchanged for energy saving globes or LED globes. Geyser timers are also provided.

The exercise has no cost implication for you as the customer. You will of course benefit from the exercise by saving on electricity costs.

If you are interested, you can complete the form below and return it to Knysna Electronics. They will let you know when the replacement globes have been received and then make an appointment to replace your old globes.

Before you complete the form, please read the below terms and conditions:

  • All 60W bayonet globes will be replaced with energy saving globes of 11W and all screw-in globes will be replaced with 12W energy saving globes.
  • All 100W bayonet globes will be replaced with energy saving globes of 20W and all screw-in globes will be replaced with 23W energy saving globes.
  • Downlights (220V and 50W) will be replaced with LED globes (cool white) of 4W. Please note that these LED globes will not have a “dim” facility. The project also doesn’t provide for 12V downlights at this stage. This might be addressed at a later stage.
  • The geyser timers will be installed at houses where there are no “ripple switches”. The timers are programmed to switch the geyser off between 06H00 and 08H00 and again between 18H00 and 20H00. These settings cannot be changed. More settings can be added by a customer depending on requirements.

If you need more information, you are most welcome to contact us.

Free LED Globes & Geyser Timers — 5 Comments

  1. Hi Mike,
I just read your piece about the new energy globes. I have done a huge amount of research on these globes after a friend of mine’s husband accidently stood on one. He nearly lost his foot. The damage is still wreaking havoc on his life two years down the line.
These bulbs are horrific in every way and once the old incandescent bulbs are gone, we will be very sorry indeed.

I’m fighting them every way I can.

      • Unfortunately this plague has spiralled out of control already. With significant amounts of mercury in all these globes, it will not be long before millions of them start finding their way into aquifiers and underwater water supplies and slowly start poisoning those that drink the water.
In Utah, where the best study has been going on for 5 years, the food chain has started showing up with mercury present. Everything from bugs up to deer and cattle.
Good news for big Pharma, I guess.
If nobody uses these things, they’ll just have to stop manufacturing them.

        • I haven’t studied it so can’t comment. But i have studied much else and do blog on other sites regards such. The tragic fact is that with most negatives, we are overwhelmed and will have to pay consequences before there’s acknowledgement of consequence, acceptance and reparation. The world is in peril. Maybe we should ignore the biggest issues and rather start at the root, doing the best we can for our towns, where we have more chance at making a difference.
