Every BOOB Counts

Every Boob CountsSA’s first 100 miler off-road run – 160km – in aid of Breast Cancer…

A bunch of crazy people doing crazy things, to make a difference…

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” – Steve Jobs

In light of the above quote a bunch of trail running buddies decided, what better way to start 2013 than doing something crazy that in the process will make a difference in somebodies life?

So on Jan the 25th these overzealous athletes will be tackling this Mammoth task of a 100 Miles. No it’s a typing error; these people will be covering a distance of 160 kilometres in less than 24 hours. This is not a race, but rather a group of like-minded people doing something together that they are passionate about. The event is called Every BOOB Counts, they will be raising money for ladies that have had to undergo a mastectomy due to Breast Cancer. These ladies’ may not always have the funds available, in order to undergo reconstructive surgery or purchase prosthesis for themselves. The funds will therefore go directly to buying prosthesis for the less privileged.

Pre-event festivities will start on Fri 25th of Jan at approximately 12:00. The route will see the guys going up Kaaimans Kloof, traversing the Outeniqua Mountains, running the Seven passes towards Buffalo Bay (Knysna), to be topped off with a 60 kilometre beach run back to Wilderness. All in the name of FUN!

As mentioned previously these participants are a little left-winged – and one of the criteria for having been invited was to bring along a sense of humour, enthusiasm and a funky outfit in aid of girl power.

If you want to be a part of this great experience you can make a contribution to the Every BOOB counts charity drive www.givengain.com/activist/90008/projects/4339. So, put on your most funky outfit and come down to Wilderness main beach on Saturday the 26th of January. The after party will be taking place at Salina’s restaurant @ approximately 3pm.
