A Festive Message From Sedgefield Tourism

Sedgefield TourismThe summer season is upon us and we can already see the hustle and bustle in town. We welcome all our visitors and wish them a safe festive season. We wish all our local Sedgefielders a blessed season and encourage you to show off our beautiful town and surrounding areas to your visiting friends and family. Remember to pop into our Tourism office for advice on where to go, what to do and what to see.

Our office will be open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 1pm on Saturdays and from 9am to 1pm on Sundays. Our office will close at 1pm on 24 and 31 December and we are closed on 25 December 2012 and 1 January 2013.

Sedgefield is a place for fun and adventure with many family oriented fun adventures available in our area. A township tour and kayaking adventures are two brand new activities which are sure to surprise and delight – we urge you to support all our activity providers and enjoy their fun products.

According to our records, occupancy in town for the period 14 December 2012 to 3 January 2013 is at 89% – a fantastic figure in today’s economic climate! We encourage shop owners to decorate their shops in the festive spirit – it is always easier to shop at a pretty, clean shop. Sedgefield festive events include:

  • Launch of the Marinara Mosaic fish 18 December at 5 pm @ Swartvlei Estuary mouth.
  • NG Kerk Basaar from 9am on 21 December.
  • Carols by Candlelight at the Lions’ Club from 6pm onwards on 22 December.
  • Slow Town 5km Fun Run at 9am from Myoli Beach on 27 December.
  • Beach Festival on 30 and 31 December including beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach touch rugby, a beach walk and sand castle building.

Please visit us at our office for more information on these events, activities in the area and information on Sedgefield and surrounds’ restaurants. And when making the most of what our area has to offer, please keep the following safety tips in mind: park vehicles in well-lit areas at night; never leave valuables in your vehicle; do not leave valuables at home in plain sight from outside; please take heed of the lifeguards’ rules and only swim within the designated swimming areas; remember the sunscreen, hats and water bottles; do not litter; consider cyclists and children on the road and; never drink and drive!

We at Sedgefield Tourism would like to thank our members and the residents of Sedgefield for your amazing support and interaction during the year: we are looking forward to next year’s activities and festivities. We wish you the most magical festive season, appreciate your family and friends, and stay safe!
